How do I book a lesson with The Collective?

You can book a private lesson by contacting us directly via WhatsApp, phone (+41 79 930 11 24), or email. We recommend booking at least a few days in advance during high season (Christmas, New Year, February half-term) as our four instructors fill up quickly. For off-peak periods, we can often accommodate same-day or next-day bookings.

What are your lesson prices?

Our private lesson prices range from CHF 280 to CHF 640 depending on the duration and season. A 3-hour afternoon session is CHF 280 (off-peak) or CHF 330 (peak), and a 3-hour morning session is CHF 300 (off-peak) or CHF 350 (peak). Full-day lessons range from CHF 490 (off-peak) to CHF 590 (low/mid season) to CHF 640 (high season). All lessons are private — you work one-on-one with your chosen instructor. Prices are per instructor, not per person, so families or small groups can share a lesson at no extra cost.

What is included in a private lesson?

Every private lesson includes personalised instruction tailored to your ability, goals, and learning style. Your instructor will meet you at an agreed location (typically a lift station or your hotel), plan the session around your preferences, and provide feedback throughout. We cover everything from technique fundamentals to off-piste skiing, freestyle, and mountain guiding. Lift passes, equipment rental, and lunch are not included in the lesson price.

Can I choose my instructor?

Yes, absolutely. At The Collective, you choose your instructor when you book. Each of our four instructors — Emma, Casey, Niamh, and Ally — has their own specialties and teaching style. You can read about each instructor on our Meet the Team page and pick the best fit for your goals. If you are unsure, we are happy to recommend someone based on what you want to work on.

Do you offer group lessons?

No, The Collective offers exclusively private lessons. We believe the best learning happens with one-on-one attention, where every minute of the lesson is focused on you. However, prices are per instructor, not per person — so families or small groups can share a private lesson at no extra cost.

What qualifications do your instructors have?

All four instructors hold internationally recognised certifications at the highest level. Our team includes holders of the Swiss Brevet Fédéral (the Swiss national ski instructor qualification), BASI Level 4 (the highest British qualification), and ISIA (International Ski Instructors Association) certification. Each instructor has over 10 seasons of professional teaching experience.

What should I bring to a lesson?

Wear warm, layered clothing suitable for the weather and bring ski or snowboard equipment (skis/board, boots, poles, helmet). We recommend a helmet for all ages. Sunscreen, sunglasses or goggles, and a small backpack with water are also essential. If you need to rent equipment, we can recommend trusted rental shops in Zermatt. Do not forget your lift pass — you will need a valid Zermatt ski pass for all lessons.

Do I need a lift pass?

Yes, you need a valid Zermatt/Cervinia lift pass for all lessons. Lift passes are purchased separately from lesson costs. You can buy passes online in advance from Zermatt Bergbahnen or at the ticket offices in the village. We recommend buying your pass before the lesson to maximise your time on the mountain. Multi-day passes offer better value if you are skiing for several days.

What levels do you teach?

We teach all levels, from complete beginners who have never been on snow to advanced skiers and snowboarders looking to improve technique, tackle steeper terrain, or explore off-piste. Our instructors are experienced in teaching children (from age 4), teenagers, and adults. We set clear goals at the start of each lesson and adapt our approach to your pace and learning style.

What is GRL PWdR?

GRL PWdR is our women-only ski and snowboard programme designed to create a supportive, encouraging environment for women of all levels. Sessions focus on building confidence, improving technique, and having fun on the mountain. It is run by our female instructors and covers everything from piste skiing to off-piste adventures. Check our GRL PWdR page for upcoming session dates and details.

When is the ski season in Zermatt?

Zermatt is one of the few resorts in the Alps that offers year-round skiing on the Theodul glacier (3,883m). The main winter season runs from late November to late April, with the best snow conditions typically in January and February. High season periods — when prices are highest and availability is most limited — include Christmas/New Year (mid-December to early January) and February half-term weeks. Off-peak periods (early December, January excluding holidays, March, April) offer lower prices and quieter slopes.
